Castellane

Castellane is the perfect starting point for tours of the Verdon gorge. You will find a large number of walking trails and kayak and climbing tours.

The village itself is dominated by a huge chalk cliff - the Roc. The tiny chapel of Notre Dame du Roc looks down majestically from the top of the cliff. The walking trail up to the chapel starts in the village behind the parish church. The climb is worth it if only for the view across the Verdon valley.
